First Editions* is a curated group show for emerging and local artists.
It’s designed to eliminate common barriers like application fees, booth costs, while also providing (hopefully) valuable feedback. The goal isn’t sales — it’s connection: between artists, between work, and with the community.
This event is a part of and sponsored by the Uxbridge Studio Tour, which celebrates its 40th anniversary this year. We’re excited to bring new voices into a long-standing tradition.
Also, a huge thank you to Blue Heron Books for generously providing the space. Their support helps make this event possible and we're lucky to have them in the community!
(PS, The colourful backdrop? that's Tracy Walker's work - and yea, she crushed it!)
The application will be open until August 31 and will touch base with everyone by September 5th at the latest.
First Editions* is a part of the Uxbridge Studio Tour and will be held in the Blue Heron Studio on Saturday, Sept 20 & Sunday, Sept 21, 2025.
Any kind — painting, sculpture, installation, textiles, graffiti, photography, design, or something harder to define. If you make it, I want to see it!
That said, this is a curated show, and final selections will be based on my personal perspective and how the pieces work together. If something isn't chosen, it's not a judgment on your ability - just a reflection of my own (very subjective) view of what fits for this show.
If you’re curious why your piece is or isn't selected, you can request feedback when you apply. I’m happy to share my honest (and respectful) thoughts.
Anyone can apply BUT we’re especially focused on emerging artists and people from Uxbridge and nearby communities. Any and all forms of art are welcome!
Yes, but a parent or guardian must commit to being there with you for the full duration of the event.
Absolutely. That’s part of the point. First Editions* is designed to be welcoming, especially for people who haven’t shown before.
Nope. It’s completely free to apply and to participate. No hidden costs, no booth fees.
Sure, but that’s not the focus. This event is about showing up and sharing your work with the community. If someone wants to buy something, you’re welcome to make that happen.
